LGBTQ+ Resources

We are Allies to our LGBTQ+ community

LGBTQ+ young people are not inherently prone to higher suicide risk because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Instead, they face increased risks due to the mistreatment and stigma they experience in society. By providing safe spaces and support, such as access to a counselor, we can significantly help reduce suicide rates within the LGBTQ+ community.

Our team is dedicated to being informed and inclusive in our practices. If you or someone close to you needs a therapist who understands the issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ community, we are here as a support. Our therapists not only offer a supportive environment, we stay up to date on best practices and treatment options for our community.

We understand that this information is very sensitive and take great care in protecting your privacy.  Trauma and discrimination from work and community environments are areas that we are able to focus on in treatment to find ways for you to explore options that are right for you.

If you are unsure if counseling is right for you please reach out for a free consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at hattie@counselingforhappiness.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes we do. We have extensive experience working with children and adults so any age client is welcome in our practice.

During the first session, we get to know you and your goals for treatment. We spend a lot of time getting background information and answering questions you have. We will ask you to fill out some forms and this may take extra time. After the first session, we are able to make recommendations for treatment and set a schedule with you. If you have any other providers that you want us to have contact with you should bring their contact information and we will have you fill out a form so we are able to talk with those providers.

Yes we do bill some insurance networks. Each plan is different so please let us know if you plan to use insurance so we can help you find out if our services are covered.

Insurance billing is for medical conditions so we will have to provide a diagnosis if you would like your insurance to be billed. We are able to explain all of this in detail if you have questions about billing.

If you prefer not to use your insurance plan we do accept out-of-network clients.
