Our ADHD specialists offer therapy tailored to your specific needs.
We all have unique brains that have strengths and weaknesses in specific areas. In people with ADHD, there is a persistent pattern of inattention or hyperactivity that interferes with daily life. This can present in many ways, but the person who is experiencing this will know that they are struggling and often feel scattered in life. At the root of this diagnosis are areas of weakness in executive functioning skills.
Despite the knowledge that ADHD is a brain based diagnosis, many people who are diagnosed still suffer from stereotypes and negative labels. It is a common myth that people with ADHD are lazy. This mindset has a very negative impact on people with the diagnosis. Often times causing depression and anxiety. Treatment with experienced providers is important to improving the lives of people struggling to manage symptoms.
ADHD begins in childhood but is a lifelong diagnosis. It is a neurodevelopmental disorder. This means that it will be present throughout your life, but may look very different once you are an adult. Many children do not get a diagnosis until they are an adult.
Although children do not grow out of ADHD, treatment can help with reducing the stress experienced with symptoms. Children can also gain confidence in how to manage their lives to reach their potential.
